“Stitches” singer Shawn Mendes could see 2016 become the year he becomes one of the biggest stars in the world after announcing a headlining world tour. The singer has been one of the most sought after acts on the live scene since coming to prominence via the social media platform Vine and later as the support act for Taylor Swift in her hugely successful 1989 tour. The 17 year old Canadian has already headlined his own world tour and will continue to provide fans with the chance to see him perform live via a massive world tour taking in cities throughout North America on two occasions on the tour.
Shawn Mendes will begin his tour in New York at the Radio City Music Hall before hitting the road for a tour that will take in Europe; after completing his tour of Europe the singer will return to North America for a tour that will end in his home city of Toronto. Fans of the singer who saw his debut album reach number one on the Billboard charts will have to act fast after the New York date sold out in less than five minutes.
The debut album “Handwritten” has been hugely successful throughout the world and comes after Mendes found fame performing cover versions of popular snogs on social media.
The lengthy trek takes off July 15th with Shawn’s gig at Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton, and will see him head up to Atlanta, before turning west for Texas, Phoenix, and the West Coast – with stops in San Diego, San Jose, and Seattle. From there, he’ll cross the heartlands, cruise through the Midwest, and, eventually, wrap the American dates up on the East Coast, before his massive hometown show at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre.
